Sisters & Friends
"Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not
quickly broken." Ecclesiastes 4:11-12
Ministry Description
As a connecting and bridging ministry, Sisters and Friends was created to assist new
women members in becoming more quickly assimilated into the Tusculum family, to help veteran
members become acquainted with new members as well as build upon existing relationships, and
to bridge the generation gap by including women from all ages. Sisters and Friends meetings are
conducted in an informal but structured home setting with eight to twelve women. The goal is to
become acquainted at the meetings and create a desire in each woman to build upon those
relationships outside the meetings so that we may grow closer to God and to each other.
Leadership Description
The leaders of this ministry maintain an updated list of women at Tusculum, their Sisters and
Friends' names, and data about who has and has not been invited to meetings. The ministry leaders
work with the hostesses to coordinate the annual meeting.
Hostess Duties
The hostesses work in pairs to host one meeting per quarter in one of their homes. They are
responsible for inviting women to the meeting, serving simple refreshments, and providing to the
ministry leader a list of those invited and those attending. Hostesses also help with the annual
meeting each year. We ask hostesses to make a 1-2 year commitment.
